Tehran – Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei has been officially appointed the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The announcement follows an intensive deliberative process by the Assembly of Experts, the 88-member clerical body constitutionally tasked with selecting the nation’s highest authority. During an extraordinary session held on Monday, the council issued a formal statement confirming that based on a decisive vote by its representatives, Mojtaba al Husseini has been appointed to succeed his father. The selection comes at a critical juncture for the Islamic Republic, as the Assembly of Experts reached a decisive consensus to ensure national stability. Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei assumes the role following the death of the previous leader, Ali Khamenei, in late February. His leadership is expected to define Iran’s domestic and foreign policy for the foreseeable future as the nation transitions into its third era of supreme leadership.
