Dhahirah citizen sponsors release of 30 under Fak Kurbah

Ibri – An Omani citizen in Dhahirah has sponsored the release of 30 inmates eligible under the Fak Kurbah initiative, marking the tenth consecutive year of his support for the programme. The sponsorship covers all individuals imprisoned in non-criminal financial cases in the governorate’s courts who meet the initiative’s conditions. The benefactor has also pledged to cover any additional qualifying cases that may arise during the holy month. Implemented by the Omani Lawyers Association, Fak Kurbah was launched in 2012. The initiative facilitates the settlement of debts for insolvent individuals in non-criminal cases, enabling their release. According to organisers, more than 8,198 debtors have been released nationwide through the programme which runs under the slogan ‘Because we believe that a person deserves a second chance’. The annual initiative gains momentum during Ramadan, with contributions from individuals and institutions across the sultanate aimed at supporting eligible inmates and reuniting families.
