GCC urges immediate ceasefire as Oman Stresses collective action

The Sultanate of Oman took part on Sunday evening in the 50th Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council, held via videoconference, with the participation of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Foreign Ministers of the GCC states and the Secretary-General of the Council. Oman was represented by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister. During the meeting, Sayyid Badr reaffirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s solidarity with fellow GCC member states regarding measures undertaken to safeguard their security and stability. He stressed the importance of sustained collective action to halt the ongoing war in the region, address its root causes and serious repercussions, and intensify diplomatic engagement and communication efforts in this regard. The GCC Ministerial Council expressed its unequivocal rejection and strongest condemnation of the attacks targeting GCC states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Council noted that GCC countries have consistently advocated dialogue, negotiation and the peaceful resolution of issues with the Islamic Republic of Iran, commending the constructive role played by the Sultanate of Oman in this context. The Council also underscored the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities to restore security, peace and stability across the region.
