H M Sultan Haitham, leaders of Kazakhstan and India urge de-escalation

Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received telephone calls from Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on Tuesday. The leaders reviewed the latest developments in the ongoing military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on the security, stability and safety of countries and their peoples. They underscored the need for intensified international efforts to immediately halt the rising tensions and return to dialogue and diplomatic channels, in a manner that would help contain the crisis and reinforce regional and international peace. Separately, Oman expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy to the Kuwaiti leadership, government and people on the martyrdom of two members of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces while performing their national duty. In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Oman affirmed its full solidarity with Kuwait in this tragic loss and reiterated its support for all measures taken by the country to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability.
