H M Sultan Haitham, Mauritanian president discuss need to end war

Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received a telephone call from President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania on Monday. During the call, they exchanged views regarding developments of the ongoing war in the region and its grave implications. The two sides underscored the importance of halting the cycle of conflict, preventing further escalation and giving primacy to the language of dialogue and diplomacy so that security and peace may prevail throughout the region and the world. Also on Monday, Oman participated in an emergency meeting held virtually on developments in the region attended by Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Turkey, Armenia, several Arab leaders, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. Oman was represented by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister. He affirmed Oman’s solidarity with the Gulf states and other Arab countries for violations of their sovereignty, while reiterating the sultanate’s position that the Israeli-American attacks on Iran are a violation of international law, warning that continuation of military operations could exacerbate the crisis. He stressed the importance of adopting a balanced and responsible approach in dealing with current developments.
