H M Sultan Haitham, regional leaders call for immediate ceasefire

Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held telephone calls with President Abdel Fattah el Sisi of Egypt and King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday. The discussions addressed the latest developments in the region following the US-Israeli bombardment of Iran and the resulting escalation, as well as its repercussions on regional and global security and stability. The leaders underscored the urgent need for an immediate halt to attacks and stressed the importance of returning to dialogue and diplomatic channels to defuse tensions and safeguard peace in the region. On Saturday evening, His Majesty the Sultan spoke with heads of state of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, when he underscored the imperative of respecting the sovereignty of states and the inviolability of their territories, exercising restraint, effecting an immediate cessation of escalatory actions, and reverting to dialogue and diplomacy, so as to preserve the security and stability of the region and safeguard its peoples.
