HM holds urgent consultations with GCC leaders amid regional escalation

Muscat- His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held telephone conversations on Saturday evening with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states to discuss the latest regional developments and their implications for security and stability. His Majesty spoke with Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait; Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar; King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain; and Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During the calls, His Majesty enquired about the well-being of the brotherly nations and their peoples, reaffirming the Sultanate of Oman’s firm stance condemning the ongoing military escalation and the grave dangers it poses to regional peace. The discussions addressed the serious repercussions arising from the Israeli and United States strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran, with His Majesty warning of their potential impact on the security and stability of the wider region. His Majesty underscored the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and the inviolability of their territories, calling for restraint and an immediate halt to escalatory actions. He stressed the need to return to dialogue and diplomatic channels as the only viable path to safeguarding regional stability and protecting the interests of its peoples. For their part, the GCC leaders expressed appreciation for the balanced and wise approach adopted by the Sultanate of Oman under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan. They commended Oman’s consistent efforts to promote peace, encourage dialogue and bridge differences among various parties, reaffirming the importance of unified Gulf coordination at this critical juncture.
