India-Oman ties in focus during Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Delhi

New Delhi, India – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, on Saturday on the sidelines of the 2nd India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in the Indian capital. During the meeting, Sayyid Badr conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to PM Modi, along with His Majesty’s best wishes for continued growth and prosperity for India and its people. In turn, PM Modi asked Sayyid Badr to convey his greetings and appreciation to His Majesty the Sultan, and his best wishes to Oman and its people for further progress and prosperity. Sayyid Badr also met Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Our discussions on trade, critical minerals and regional developments reflected the trust and comfort of our strategic partnership.” The ministers reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and explored prospects for expanding ties in sectors of mutual interest, particularly economy, trade and investment, as well as energy, transport and logistics. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues, stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation, dialogue and diplomacy, efforts to reduce regional escalation, and initiatives to enhance security, stability and sustainable development. The India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is being held after a gap of ten years. The first meeting took place in Bahrain in 2016, where five priority areas of cooperation were identified: economy, energy, education, media and culture.
