Abu Dhabi – An Indian expatriate residing in Oman has been named the grand prize winner of the Big Ticket Abu Dhabi draw held this February. Shanthanu Shettigar, who is based in Muscat and works in the retail sector, claimed the staggering Dirham 20 mn jackpot in Series 283. According to Arab media reports, Shettigar was initially unaware of his life-changing win, having missed several calls from the draw organisers before the news was finally delivered. The winning ticket, number 305810, was purchased on January 20. The winner, who hails from Karnataka, India, has been a regular participant in the raffle for several years. He confirmed that the prize money (approximately RO 2,093,000) would be shared with a friend with whom he jointly purchased the ticket. This significant win marks another instance of a Gulf-based expatriate achieving multi-millionaire status through the long-running Abu Dhabi raffle.
