Muscat – Maritime Security Centre (MSC) has launched a comprehensive public safety campaign aimed at jet ski operators and water sports enthusiasts to ensure a secure environment across the Sultanate’s territorial waters. As maritime recreational activities continue to grow in popularity, the authorities have underlined a series of critical protocols designed to protect lives and maintain order at sea. Central to the new guidance is the mandatory requirement for all users to wear life jackets, which the MSC identifies as a primary layer of protection during water-based activities. Safety officials have also issued a strict directive against operating watercraft after sunset. This measure is intended to mitigate the risks associated with reduced visibility, ensuring the safety of both the operators and other maritime commuters. Furthermore, the Maritime Security Centre has emphasised the importance of spatial awareness and regulatory compliance. Operators are urged to remain strictly within designated zones specifically allocated for water sports. Staying within these boundaries is essential for effective maritime organisation and significantly reduces the potential for accidents. The MSC concludes that responsible and conscious use of such equipment is fundamental to preserving the well-being of the entire community.
