Muscat – Muscat Municipality has urged residents to adopt responsible consumption habits during Ramadan, highlighting the importance of reducing food waste and preserving surplus meals. In an awareness drive, the municipality noted that large quantities of food are often prepared for iftar, which can lead to unnecessary waste despite food being a blessing that should be valued. The municipality encouraged the public to practice moderation when preparing meals and to promote a culture of generosity by redistributing excess food to those in need. It also advised residents to store leftovers properly in airtight containers and to plan meals in advance to avoid cooking more than necessary. ‘Let’s avoid waste and practice mindful consumption,’ the civic body said, stressing that small daily actions can help reduce food waste and support community solidarity during the holy month.
