Oman FM, Malaysia PM call for diplomacy amid regional tensions

Muscat – Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received a telephone call on Monday from Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, during which they discussed the current escalation in the region. They exchanged views on developments related to the conflict involving US, Israel and Iran and stressed the alignment of their countries’ positions in prioritising efforts to halt the ongoing hostilities and their repercussions. They also discussed the wider impact of the conflict, including attacks affecting neighbouring countries and potential disruptions to supply chains, maritime navigation and the global economy. During the call, the Malaysian prime minister expressed appreciation for the policies of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the diplomatic and humanitarian role played by the sultanate in supporting regional peace and security. On his part, Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to its balanced foreign policy and its emphasis on diplomatic engagement and peaceful solutions to regional conflicts.
