Over 10,000 government tenders planned for Oman

Muscat – The Government Projects Forum 2026, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for the nation’s procurement and digital transformation strategies. During the event, officials detailed the modern mechanisms for tendering and awarding contracts within the unified digital system. A significant announcement was made regarding the future project pipeline, with 57 government entities planning to issue approximately 10,000 tenders. This initiative aims to streamline the procurement process while enhancing transparency across all public sectors. Eng. Badr Al Muamri, Chairman of the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority confirmed that the total estimated value of these future projects exceeds RO1.5bn. Currently, approved projects account for more than RO475mn, while an additional RO1bn worth of projects are presently under study. A vital component of this financial allocation is the dedicated support for smaller businesses; Small and Medium Enterprises are expected to secure over RO90mn from approved projects and more than RO203mn from those currently being evaluated.
