Muscat – More than 400 students took part in the 22nd edition of the Adam’s Sons Quran Competition, held on Wednesday at Majan University College in Darsait under the patronage of H E Dr Mohamed bin Said Al Mamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs. The annual event, which has grown steadily over the years, brought together participants and guests in a celebration of dedication to the Holy Quran and the values it promotes. A number of dignitaries and community leaders attended the ceremony, underscoring the significance of the competition within Oman’s religious and social landscape. This year, contestants representing eight nationalities registered to compete in three categories – Full Quran Hifz, Hifz of 10 Juz, and Tilawa for participants under the age of 14. The diversity of entrants reflected the broad community engagement the competition continues to attract. In a step towards enhancing accessibility and organisation, the committee introduced an online registration portal for the first time. The system enabled participants to select their preferred category and time slot for the initial round digitally, streamlining procedures and improving the overall experience. The programme commenced with opening remarks by Ismail bin Mohamed bin Adam al Saigh, Chairman of the Organising Committee. He highlighted the core objective of the competition, stating that it seeks to instil love for the Holy Quran among younger generations and encourage them to memorise, recite and understand it. Finalists were assessed by a distinguished panel of four experts, who evaluated participants on accuracy, pronunciation and adherence to the rules of recitation. Following careful deliberation, the top three winners were announced: Mohammed AbdelTawab Yaqut in the Full Quran Hifz category, Mohammed Khalid Ayoub in Hifz of 10 Juz, and Ahmed Talal al Mawali in the Tilawa category. The ceremony concluded with honouring the judges, contributors and guests in appreciation of their efforts in ensuring the success of the event. Gifts were also presented to the competition’s sponsor by Abdul Hameed bin Adam bin Ishaq al Saigh and Ismail bin Mohamed bin Adam al Saigh, reflecting the collective commitment and collaborative spirit that continue to sustain this Quranic initiative.
