Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) signed an agreement on Monday with Sorouh Al Qurum Real Estate Company to develop an integrated tourism complex in Al Qurum in Muscat governorate. The project, named Tilal Al Qurum, will span approximately 165,000sqm and entails an estimated investment of RO230mn. Under the agreement, the development will be implemented in phases over a 15-year period. It will feature two four-star hotels with a combined capacity of more than 400 rooms, in addition to a range of integrated leisure facilities. These include an indoor entertainment zone offering laser tag, trampoline and rock-climbing activities, various sports courts, retail outlets, and freehold residential units available for ownership by both Omanis and non-Omanis. The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by H E Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and by Khaled Khudair Mashaan, Chairman of Al Argan International Real Estate Company and authorised signatory for Souroh Al Qurum Real Estate Company. Mashaan said the project stands out for its prime location in Muscat, noting that it will focus on strengthening the tourism offering while prioritising carbon emission reduction and the creation of expansive green spaces. For his part, Dr Rashid bin Saleh Al Hinai, Director General of Planning at MHT, described the development as a key investment-supporting project that will add value to Muscat governorate as an integrated tourism destination. He added that, upon completion, the complex will contribute to increasing hotel room capacity in the governorate and generate employment opportunities for Omanis. The signing underscores the ministry’s continued commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure, boosting the attractiveness of destinations, supporting local content, and creating sustainable job opportunities, in line with efforts to strengthen the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
