Public Prosecution warns against sharing incident footage, rumours online

Muscat – In light of the surge in online activity monitored across social media platforms, the Public Prosecution has urged citizens, residents and social media users to refrain from filming, publishing or circulating any videos, images or information related to incidents, locations or facilities, or any content that could compromise public security or provoke panic within the community. The Public Prosecution stressed that, in line with its responsibility to enforce penal laws, the dissemination or re-publication of rumours and unverified information will expose offenders to legal accountability in accordance with the provisions of the law.
