Ramadan at the Opera ~ A season of reflection and spiritual connection through music
2026-02-20 - 09:16
This Ramadan, the Royal Opera House Muscat presents Evenings of Sufi and Inshaad, a thoughtfully curated concert series dedicated to spiritual music. Bringing together distinguished artists from Oman and across the region, the series offers audiences an opportunity to experience devotional traditions expressed through music that inspires reflection and a sense of shared heritage. The series opens on 26 February 2026 at 9.30pm with renowned vocalist Mohammed Sarwat performing alongside his orchestra. In this special programme of Sufi and Inshaad repertoire, devotional vocals and instrumental textures are woven together in an orchestral setting, creating an atmosphere of spiritual depth and quiet reflection to mark the beginning of the holy month. On 5 March 2026 at 9.30pm, the Syrian Heritage Group, led by Mustafa Haji Hamdo, presents an evening dedicated to Syrian Inshaad. Through expressive group vocals and established melodic forms, the performance reflects the communal spirit and enduring spiritual heritage of Syrian devotional music, honouring traditions passed down through generations. The series concludes on 9 March 2026 at 9.30pm with Omani Night, a celebration of the Sultanate’s own spiritual heritage. Featuring Mohammed Al Wahaibi, Yahya Bihaqi and Ali Al Alawi alongside the Al Wifaq Choir Group and Awtar Al Takht, the evening brings the Ramadan series to a close with a programme rooted in Omani devotional expression and collective spiritual experience.
