Reconciliation panels settle 9,625 disputes with 87% success rate

Muscat – Reconciliation and settlement committees across the sultanate recorded a strong performance in 2025, resolving 9,625 cases with an overall success rate of 87%, underscoring the growing role of amicable solutions in strengthening family and community stability. Official data shows that the committees convened 2,636 sessions during the year and received 23,292 requests covering a wide spectrum of disputes. Of these, 12,864 were civil cases, 6,010 related to Sharia matters and 4,418 were commercial disputes. A total of 1,411 requests, representing 13%, remained unresolved due to the parties’ inability to reach a mutual agreement. At the governorate level, Muscat ranked first in the number of settled cases with 1,476 reconciliations. It was followed by Dakhliyah with 1,325 cases and North Batinah with 1,288. In terms of sessions held, Dakhliyah led with 447 sessions, ahead of South Sharqiyah with 411 and North Sharqiyah with 375 sessions. Among wilayats, the highest number of applications was recorded in Seeb with 2,136 requests. Barka followed with 1,789 requests, while Saham registered 1,398. To widen access to services, the number of reconciliation and mediation committees has risen to 58 across the governorates, helping to bring services closer to beneficiaries and speed up settlement procedures. The Ministry of Interior continues to advance the reconciliation and mediation system through digital solutions, notably the ‘Settlement’ platform, which enables electronic submission of requests. The move supports faster processing, improved efficiency and enhanced service quality, in line with the sultanate’s broader digital transformation drive.
